| WWF rediscovered |
|
27 July 2001
It was a like a Hindi movie.. and that too showing a WWF match.
The Boy's Hostel turned into a battle field. As K2 and L2
fought over a lost audio casette (no this time they did not
fight over the fairer sex), things took a drastic turn as
emotions turned into motions !! There were missiles like helmets,
stones et al, each thrown at each other with murderous intentions.
Things took a melodramatic turn when the wardy decided to
intervene- 'Agar tumne aage jaana hai to meri laash ke upar
se jaana hoga '. The toll included 17 guys hurt including
2 who had to be detained in the ICU !! A score were sent home
for a month (cooling off time !!).
A word of caution.. the audio casette is still lost. Watch
out for more.

| Traffic rules in campus |
|
20 May 2001
Driving in afmc campus is now more terrifing experience than
in city roads ! The reason being stirct rules ! You can get
away from local pandus by telling urself army officers or
press walla (it really works ) but here u cant do any thing
. You have to wear helmets, You cant overspeed and overspeed
means anything above 40!
Even there are plenty of those one-way roads stuff to confuse
the whole issue and increase ur petrol consumption. Then there
are those mostrouse breakers which even give ur anatomy a
good jhatka even if u cross them at 10. If you get caught
you could be fined 100-250 + some negative points (100 negative
points amount to detaination for 6 month !!!!) or your 2-wheeler
may be withheld for a period of 15 days to 3 months ! Now
i think it is better to walk than this all ! dont u agree??

| Silhouettes concludes |
|
22 Jan 2001
Silhouettes 2001 ended yesterday with AFMC Blues and Reds
winning the respective titles followed by an all-night basketball
court social. AFMC also won the Rampage2001 and Footloose2001
this year. The choreography was won with style when our guys
took on the competition blind-folded !! Yes no jokes, they
did their act in perfect unison with eyes blindfolded.

| New Year Party @ AFMC |
|
21 Jan 2001
I guess times they are a changing..... I read about the New
Year "social" and my mind wanders back to 1970 .....
a long long time ago. H batch had just completed the worst
of the ragging (did I say "ragging"? .... the then
Dean Bhasker Mahadevan insisted there was no such thing!)
and we decided to find out what the "scene" was
like.
A group of us rented the Eichstat Hall (the one with the church
next to Empress Garden ... did I spell it right?) and then
with MarzoRin providing the sandwiches, a local group providing
live music and courtsey friends in ASPT and IAT the booze
came in almost "free" ..... we doctored the booze
into a very palatable punch (with lemon juice/sugar/pudhina
and ginger juice) and of course, it was after all, the days
before the original Woodstock ..... and let it not be said
that AFMC was not ahead of the times!
About a hundred guys showed up (from other batches too!) ....
almost everyone brought in a "chic"..... and with
rythm of the loud music, the rush of the alcohol and the all
prevelant aromas in the air, a wonderful time was had by all.
I am sure many boys became men on that fateful night, and
I had thought it was just between consenting adults .....
but the next day I was approached by the church elders, who
questioned the multitude of "safety" devices that
they found used and discarded on the church grounds! I guess
hormones dont recognise religeous values!
That was 30 years ago ....... and I think most of my batchmates
are still having a rollicking good time! I am sure you will
hear other such stories of the years gone by in AFMC .....
I remember it as a truly wonderful experience!

| New Year Party @ AFMC |
|
01 Jan 2001
The NEW YEAR NIGHT was celebrated here as usual with a dance
party (we call it SOCIAL). This social turned to be cleanest
one thanks to an untimely drizzle (chaps here turnup beside
that)from GOD ! then rainwater was the only liquid flowing.
Even the gals dresses were so long that even the floor was
cleaned !!(no toast for eyes)..and finally some anti-SOCIAL
elements prefer going early to bed rather than breaking floor
till morning !

and 5 in students . Now this was one match I am sure was fixed

| NEW MESS IN OUR MESSES |
|
18 Dec 2000
The already hi-tech mess of AFMC goes even hi-tech-er.
As if the automatic hand dryer machine wasn’t enough we are
now getting a centralised music system! Sounds great....but
there is a slight hitch - the music played is always instrumental
(excluding the morning “bhakti songs” that is). I believe
they play old melodies once in a while. Worst affected are
first year students who hear ALMOST the SAME music in there
dissection hall. A grand prize for the person who locates
where exactly the system operates from. (perhaps in the resident
warden’s office ?)
